This week's schedule and a new math startegy

Can you believe that it is almost Thanksgiving already?!?! There will be no spelling words this week due to the shortened week. Also, the only homework is to spend time with family and reflect on the things you are thankful for!

This week we have school all day Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday will be a half day, with dismissal around 11:15. There will not be school on Thursday or Friday this week.

In math we are starting our 2-digit addition and subtraction unit. Every time we learn a new strategy I will be posting a picture and explanation of how the strategy works. If you have questions on the homework, this blog is a great place to look first for answers. If you still have questions, please let me know and I would be more than happy to help out.

Today's strategy is Arrow Way. Arrow Way is a great strategy to use if a new ten is made or if you need to break apart a ten to subtract. This strategy tends to be a favorite among kids, especially at the beginning. Later we will learn how to add shortcuts to Arrow Way to make it even faster!
